Video Update! :)
When life is so busy, the last thing you need is one more to-do list item. I’ve never been interested in counting calories or tracking every single thing I eat. That’s just not sustainable to my real life. What I am interested in is making the best choices I can with the resources available to me. That’s where my FIT Nutrition coach comes in! He’s taught me some simple tricks for portion control, how to use food as a tool, and which foods eaten at certain times will help me achieve my goals. Above all, I’ve been learning that planning and preparing are EVERYTHING! I feel like I have all this amazing “food is fuel” knowledge bouncing around my head now! And that’s not to say I will never crave ice cream or French fries ever again. I can tell you without a doubt, I will. ;] But once you’ve been empowered to make healthy choices, it’s something worth sticking to.
One day last week, I knew I should get a workout in. It had been a long day, I hadn’t slept well the night before, and overall, I just wasn’t FEELING it. Sound familiar? It’s almost annoying how easy it is to talk yourself out of doing things you know you should. In the back of my head, I could hear the words of my FIT Nutrition coach, Brock. We’d had this talk about feelings versus habits, and how you can’t rely on “feeling” motivated, because at some point, you won’t. That’s why you need a plan. I had written down workout time in my planner (yes, actual pen and paper!) and I had brought my gym bag to work with me. I had planned, and therefore didn’t have any excuses not to follow through. I made it easy for myself to succeed and that felt really good! Plus, it was nice to be able to tell my FIT Nutrition coach that his pep talk stuck!
Knowing you need to make a change and actually making a change are two very different things. Having some accountability and encouragement along the way has made a huge difference, and I’m grateful to have my FIT Nutrition coach, Brock. I get to decide what goals I want to work toward, but he checks in regularly to make sure I’m staying on track. Plus, he’s been giving me tips and encouragement every few days through emails and phone calls.
Having that personal coach has made all the difference for me. Why don’t you join me, and make a difference for yourself!
Getting started on my FIT journey has forced me to ask “WHY?” Sure, it’s nice to look in the mirror and like what you see, and to step on the scale and be happy with that number. But even deeper than that, WHY do you want to get healthier?
I want to be able to go on a hike with my husband without getting winded. Someday in the future, I want to be able to play with my kids without any restrictions. In the least cheesy way possible, I want to enjoy every single day of my life to the fullest. But it really comes down to this: I truly believe it is my responsibility to honor God by taking care of the body and the life that He has given me. That’s my “why” and FIT Nutrition has helped me find it.
